OnJan. 19, 2023, Netflix released Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, which adapted some of the horror manga artist's most bizarre and horrific tales into an anime collection.Among the stories included was a tale called "The Hanging Balloons," a twisted and macabre story about a young girl trapped inside her home while a ballooned version of FashionModel. Fuchi's face is just seriously creepy and scary to me. Most of Junji Ito's other stories like Gyo and Uzumaki don't scare me and I find more icky/gross than scary. But the Fuchi stories are the only stories that have ever scared me just because of how disturbing Fuchi's face has been drawn by Ito. Although in general, the answer depends on if you're more perturbed by Ito's characteristic body horror or psychological-type terror, since it seems like OP wasn't convinced by the "gross-out" from Gyo. .
